2003 Graduates HFF Munich with his thesis film DIE KURVE. The co-production with BR and arte becomes a great success, wins numerous national and international awards (among others: Slamdance - Special Prize of the Jury, Temecula Valley International Film Festival - Best Short Film, Rhode Island Int. Film Festival - Audience Choice Award, Brussels Film Festival - Special Prize of the Jury, Eclipse Film Festival - Best Director/Best Film).
2008 Production of the feature film DRAUSSEN AM SEE / LOSING BALANCE. The film premieres at the Filmfest München 2009 and is awarded the "Förderpreis Deutscher Film" for Best Production and for Best Young Actress (Elisa Schlott). The international premiere takes place at Montreal World Film Festival. At the Biberach Film Festival, DRAUSSEN AM SEE is awarded as Best Debut Film and also wins the Audience Award.
In 2012, Fuchssteiner produces and directs the highly acclaimed film adaptation of the international fantasy bestseller RUBY RED. SAPPHIRE BLUE follows in 2013 and is released in German cinemas in 2014. The final film - EMERALD GREEN - comes out in summer 2016. The "Gemstone Trilogy" brings over 1.8 million viewers to German-speaking cinemas and is sold to over 20 territories. The films regularly topped the DVD charts and are seen on all major streaming platforms.
In early 2021, he co-directs the YA horror film DAS PRIVILEG, together with Katharina Schöde for NETFLIX.
Felix Fuchssteiner is a member of the German Film Academy, from 2017-2020 he was on the board of the Academy for the directing section.
